What can I do to prepare for class?

We want everyone in class to feel comfortable and have a great learning experience. Therefore, we would like to suggest a few things to accomplish this.

Ammunition:  Purchase a good quality ammunition for your firearm.  This will create less malfunctions and let you concentrate on learning.

Firearm:  Make sure your firearm is in a functional state.  In our rifle class a sling is a functioning part of the firearm and is required.

If you would like to shoot your firearm before class, or would like to be familiar where the training will be conducted please contact us and we will arrange a time to do so.

What is the difference between the 16 hour and 8 hour Illinois Concealed Carry course?

You are required to have 16 hours of training in order to apply for a concealed carry permit in Illinois.  By law you can receive up to 8 hours credit toward the 16 hours of training which means you will only need to take the last 8 hours of some concealed carry classes if you qualify. Though we don't offer an 8 hour concealed carry class normally, the following is a list of the available 8 hour training credits.

        1.  NRA Basic Pistol

        2.  NRA Personal Protection in the Home

        3.  NRA Personal Protection outside the Home

        4.  Active, Retired or Honorably Discharged members of the US Armed Forces

        5.  Previously qualified law enforcement or corrections officers (430 ILCS 75 (j))

Will you teach my child one on one for basic firearms training?

Yes!  Like many of you I have children and I have been teaching them all of their lives.  My thought is to teach children how firearms work to have less curiosity if firearms are in the home.  Therefore, I've not just taught my kids but they are trained.  My children have been taught, firearm safety, mindset, basic pistol, basic rifle, and advanced skills such as cover, concealment, magazine changes, and applying tactics like slicing pies around corners.  I always joked that he was more trained than the police department I worked for.  Just contact us and we will meet your needs.
